Here is the first part of a skit that is with trees and such that I thought was cute. I will put more of it on the blog later.

LEAVES: Substitute K-2 Puppet Show
Characters: Dandelion, Foxtail Grass, Common Mullein, Pine Needles, Maple Leaf
Props: large magnifying lens with grass leaf pictured on one side and dandelion leaf pictured on the other
Dandelion
Hey you, would you mind moving over a bit,
please? I can’t get any sunlight.
Foxtail Grass
I’d like to but I can’t. I’m rooted to this spot!
Maybe you could grow a bit higher?
Dandelion
I don’t know, let me give it a try…ugh, ugh.
This is going to take some time.
Foxtail Grass
Hey, that breeze is blowing me over a bit. Is that
any better?
Dandelion
Much better! My leaves really need sunlight.
Foxtail Grass
Mine too! They need it to make food so I can
live and grow and make flowers and seeds.
Dandelion
That’s just why my leaves need sunlight too!
Our leaves are like food factories for the plant.
Foxtail Grass
Yeah! And for all the insects that eat us too.
Dandelion
Yeah – that kinda BUGS me!
Your leaves are so skinny, how do they ever get
enough sunlight to make your food?
Foxtail Grass
Oh, getting enough sunlight’s not the problem
for us grasses, but getting dried out by the sun –
now that can be a problem. Skinny leaves don’t
lose as much water as wide leaves do.
Dandelion
My leaves are wider, but it’s damp down here
near the ground so drying out isn’t a problem.
Foxtail Grass
My leaves have smooth edges but your leaves
are kind of scary-looking – like jagged teeth!
Dandelion
Those just help the water drip off so I won’t rot.
Foxtail Grass
My leaves need water to make food – they get it
through their veins. I can see you have veins too.
Dandelion
I wonder if they’re the same. Here, I’ll get my
magnifying lens and take a look. (holds up lens
with grass leaf) Wow! Your veins run right next
to each other like train tracks.
Foxtail Grass
Yeah. They’re called parallel veins, but they
could be called “train veins!” Let me see yours.
(Hold up lens with dandelion leaf) Yours are
different, like branches on a tree, or a feather!
Dandelion
Yeah – that’s why my veins are called pinnate –
it means, “feather-like.” Hey, I have an idea.
Let’s see what other kinds of leaves we can find.
Only I’m too low. I can’t see anything.
Foxtail Grass
Here’s that breeze blowing me over again. Can
you see now? (grass exits, mullein enters)
Dandelion
Oh yes, now I can see. Why, hello, I haven’t
met you before. You’re a tall flower, but you
don’t have any leaves!

Kalli is a big sister and I am a aunt again
My sister Reva had her baby boy this morning at 500 am. Joey and Reva are going to call their little boy Kaden J. Powell. It is fun to be a aunt.
I am doing well in school. It is keeping me busy. I got to go scuba diving two weeks ago. It was fun and scary. I am trying to track down some pictures I will post them when I get them if I can find some. Work is going well. I have been helping Virginia in harvesting her fruit trees. It has been a lot of fun. Well have a good day.

Balance
How do we balance time to serve others and taking care of our selves? Sometimes in life I feel like I don't do enough service. I want to learn to be able to have a balance of serving others and taking care of myself. I sometimes feel like I am selfish because I don't serve people often enough. What are some suggestions that people have as to how to better balance things?

Happenings
School is great, and a little busy. Work is good. I recently sprained my ankle which is no fun. I will be aunt to a nephew in a month or two. I like white gravy. I went to the zoo in Logan on Labor day. It was a lot of fun. There were lots of birds and mammals. There were some cute wallabies at the zoo. They look like minature kangaroos. I have taken some fun pictures. What animal is seen in this picture? Hope everyone is well.

Whistle
So today I was whistling and I thought what causes whistling. It is interesting to find that it is the vibration of the lips and the air that is around it. I had a lot of fun whistling many tunes today. I am excited for my symphonic band class. I have had one rehearsal so far. It is a lot of fun to play the clarinet. Have a good day :)

Memories
On my friend Jamie B Nelson's blog is a post about having people put memories on the comments. What you have to do is put a memory that deals with me on my blog. I will then put one on your blog. It should be a lot of fun to remember good times.

Plants
This past weekend I had fun at my Winder family reunion. One fun thing that I did was look at plants. I got a plant book from my friend Nathan and it has been fun searching out plants from that book. I found Yarrow which is the picture at the top of this post. This plant is used for many medicinial things. It can help stop bleeding, help aches, and many other things. It has cool feather fern like leaves. It is fun to find new plants and learn about them.

Lifes adventures
Here are some pictures from the activities of my past week. The first picture is a squirrel that I saw at work. I hear and see quite a few squirrels at work. It is fun. The second picture is from family home evening. The two people in the picture are Shanna Lebau and Chris Mele. We played flour bomb capture the flag. We used nylons with flour in them to get people out instead of tagging people. It was a lot of fun. We sure got floury. The last picture is the lake Mack Warner. My dad and I went fishing on the 5 of July. We had a blast. We caught one fish. As I caught my fish we had to start rowing once I got it in. It was a windy day so we had the battery powered motor on full blast. We had to row because of this. We ended up having to go along side the lake to get to the boat dock. I pulled the boat from the edge and my dad was in the boat directing it. It was crazy. We rowed a little too. It was a great adventure with my dad. Have a great week.

I wonder....
My friend Jessio did a blog about her sister recently, Sharadon and made a comment as to wondering what it would have been like to have been able to grow up with her. As I was thinking of this it made me think of my mom. I wonder what would it have been like to have had her there when I went to Junior prom, when I went on my first date, and other things like that. Would we have had our quarrels or got a long pretty good. I realize that my mom did have a purpose even if I have times where I wished she could have been there for me. I realized that she was there to help me to learn what service is. It is loving those that we care about. Doing anything that might make them happy. Telling them what we have enjoyed in life and many other things. I am grateful for a loving mother that was willing to sacrifice for me so that I could learn from her in a different way than most. I love my mom still even though I can't tell her I love her anymore on this earth.

Life
So life has been very interesting lately. My job has had its ups and downs. I am learning from the downs of my job though. I am learning that we all have different ways that we want things done. I am learning also to learn from those who have had more experience in things like gardening than I have had in my life. It definitely takes time and patience.
I am working on how to communicate better or ways that I can. It is a neat and difficult experience. I am also wanting to understand why people are the way that they are.
I went home this last week and it was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my nieces and nephews, sisters, brother in laws, and my parents. It is definitely noisy when I am around when all of those that live in Vernal of my family are in the same house. It is something that I am getting used too.
I have been having fun taking pictures of nature. I just love observing and finding things to take pictures of. I was at Wal-mart the other day and I saw what looked like a humming bird, but I wasn't sure if it was a humming bird or if it was a moth. It was really awesome!!!
Well until next time.

On to more adventures
I moved into my new apartment this past Wednesday. It has been a lot of fun organizing everything of mine and talking with Jeannio as to where to put shared stuff. It is fun there are several people from my ward during the school year that live in Anderson apartments also.
As some people have read I have a boyfriend named Nathan Johns. He is a history major, he likes to dance, cook, and many other things. One thing that he likes to cook is Indian food. He made some really good sweet and sour carrots last week. He constantly loves to tease me and I do my best to tease him back. I have to realize he is teasing a lot. I am getting used to it. We have lots of fun together. We are often laughing a lot.
School went pretty good this last semester. I have to figure out more with how to best be able to teach about plants and animals. I really enjoy nature and it would such a joy to be able to teach others. I am so excited for next school year because one of my classes that I am taking is symphonic band. I so enjoy playing in a group and combining sound to make beautiful music. Well hope everyone is well. Have a wonderful day.

Insects
Every Wednesday I have a biology lab and I have got to do some fun things in this lab. One thing is that I dissected a squid. I also held a millepede. A hard thing to do, but fun also. Another thing that I have held is a hissing cockroach. I wasn't wanting to hold these things, but I decided to get over my fears and hold them anyways. Did you know that it is only really centipedes that are dangerous not the millepedes. Some millepedes do let a cynide gas out, but there are some that are dangerous like the one I held. Centipedes have pinchers(fanglike) that are by their legs and poison comes out of this. They are on their sides. Learning and trying new things is fun.

Blessings
Lately I have realized how many blessings I have. I have family, friends, food to eat, and many more things, when others don't have as much as I do. I am learning more and more about the way our bodies work in my biology class. It is amazing that our heart which is the size of two fists makes it so that we are alive along with the other systems in our bodies. We need so much physically and also spiritually. I am grateful for the blessing that our loving heavenly father gives us. While reading in the ensign for this month I was reminded of the many blessings we are given from Christ. He died and was ressurected just for us. He paid the price so that we can repent, forgive, have eternal life, and so many other things. I am realizing more and more lately that the lord can do this for us. We must ask in faith and do our part and he will help us.
I may not know exactly what the future will hold for me right now, but the lord will guide me as I go to him. Have a good week.

Nature
Recently I noticed the unique designs of snowflakes. I had on some black gloves and I enjoyed watching the snowflakes fall onto my glove so I could observe them. It is amazing that this comes from water(moisture) evaporating into the air and going to the sky where it then freezes and is converted to snowflakes. I just love to learn about nature.

USU adventures
The last few weeks have been fun and interesting. I move to Logan a week and half ago. It was funny though. I got lost three times though. I missed the exit I need so I had to ask for directions. It has been fun going to school in Logan. It is a lot bigger than Vernal and Ephraim. I like it despite its largeness and it being the winter.
USU
USU
So on the 12 of January I went to my first USU basketball game. It was fun. I learned the school song.
It is:
Show me the Scotsman who doesn't love the thistle, show me the Englishman who doesn't love the rose, show me the true blooded aggie from Utah, who doesn't love the spot where the sage brush grows. Show me the Scotsman who doesn't love the thistle, show me the Englishman who doesn't love the rose, show me the true blooded aggie from Utah, who doesn't love the spot where the sage brush grows.
It was fun singing and doing the actions. Well until next time.

Words of Wisdom
The effect of our words and acts is tremendous in this world. Every moment of life you are changing to a degree the lives of the whole world. … So, it’s not the surroundings, it isn’t the positions; the thing that will influence [others] in this world, are personalities. No matter what you are people will feel and recognize this. You radiate, you can’t hide it. You may pretend something else, but that will not affect people.
