I went with my sweetheart Randy. It was a lot of fun. We had dinner with my IWA chapter and then we went to the dance. Jan Daines my IWA leader did dinner for us. I enjoy spending time with Randy and all of the others there at the dinner and at the dance. My favorite part of the evening was when we watched part of the movie Singing in the Rain. I got to see my favorite part before it was time to leave the dance. I love the part where they sing the good morning song.
That's all for now.

Life

It has been a week or so since I have last posted anything. It has been so weird not being in school. I have taken some breaks before, but it was crazy on the first day when my roommates were going to school I felt weird that I wasn't going. I have been looking for a job and it is going alright. I have been knitting some fun things lately. I am making a baby blanket and I am working on a throw blanket that I have been working on for about three years now. I have just been doing the project when I get bits and pieces of time and also when I remember that I am working on that project. Well that is all that I have to say for now. So I got a new bike helmet and I thought I would show ya all what it looks like.

Work is going well. I enjoy the moments when I can learn things from either the animals, my boss Sandy, or inadament objects. The hose got kinked one day and I was thinking how it is better to find where the kink is and fix it right instead of keep going and not have as much water to water plants. To apply this to life, when something is hindering, kinking our way then it is better fix it right away and find the problem rather than to keep on letting the kinking go on.

The sheep, llama, chickens are funny. It is interesting to see one of the chickens getting its feathers back. For a long time the chicken has not had some feathers and now they are growing back. Apollo the llama is so funny when he relaxes. He like to plop onto his side and sleep like that. He will be sitting with his legs to the side and then he plops onto his side it is so funny.

I am enjoying that my little nephew Kayden will say my name every once in a while. He calls me "Root" because he can't say the h yet. It is so cute. It is crazy to think that the school year is almost here. I am excited and not excited at the same time.

Hope you all are doing great.
Ruthio

Finished product

I finished the headband. I have gained some great friends from IWA. I love hanging out with the girls in the chapter. I look forward to meeting the new girls that will be joining our chapter this next school year. It was fun to see some of the girls at a reception for one of the girls that was in our chapter this last school year. It is always so fun when I hang out with my IWA girls.

At work one day I found that the sheep were following Apollo. He is the Llama that is in the front of all of the sheep. He is the protector of them and because of that he was aware of a dog that was around on this certain day. He had the sheep follow him and then he gestured to them to go a little ways back from him. It was neat to see. Apollo is like the Savior in a sense. He is a protector like the Savior. The Savior shows us in different ways how to be protected from things.

I am almost done with a headband that I knitted. I just have to place a yarn flower on it and then I am done with it. I am excited, but am still trying to figure out how to make it look good on me.

here and there

In my swimming class I recently learned to do the butterfly stroke. I can’t get any sunlight.
Foxtail Grass
I’d like to but I can’t. I’m rooted to this spot!
Maybe you could grow a bit higher?
Dandelion
I don’t know, let me give it a try…ugh, ugh.
This is going to take some time.
Foxtail Grass
Hey, that breeze is blowing me over a bit. Is that
any better?
Dandelion
Much better! My leaves really need sunlight.
Foxtail Grass
Mine too! They need it to make food so I can
live and grow and make flowers and seeds.
Dandelion
That’s just why my leaves need sunlight too!
Our leaves are like food factories for the plant.
Foxtail Grass
Yeah! And for all the insects that eat us too.
Dandelion
Yeah – that kinda BUGS me!
Your leaves are so skinny, how do they ever get
enough sunlight to make your food?
Foxtail Grass
Oh, getting enough sunlight’s not the problem
for us grasses, but getting dried out by the sun –
now that can be a problem. Skinny leaves don’t
lose as much water as wide leaves do.
Dandelion
My leaves are wider, but it’s damp down here
near the ground so drying out isn’t a problem.
Foxtail Grass
My leaves have smooth edges but your leaves
are kind of scary-looking – like jagged teeth!
Dandelion
Those just help the water drip off so I won’t rot.
Foxtail Grass
My leaves need water to make food – they get it
through their veins. I can see you have veins too.
Dandelion
I wonder if they’re the same. Here, I’ll get my
magnifying lens and take a look. (holds up lens
with grass leaf) Wow! Your veins run right next
to each other like train tracks.
Foxtail Grass
Yeah. They’re called parallel veins, but they
could be called “train veins!” Let me see yours.
(Hold up lens with dandelion leaf) Yours are
different, like branches on a tree, or a feather!
Dandelion
Yeah – that’s why my veins are called pinnate –
it means, “feather-like.” Hey, I have an idea.
Let’s see what other kinds of leaves we can find.
Only I’m too low. I can’t see anything.
Foxtail Grass
Here’s that breeze blowing me over again. Can
you see now? (grass exits, mullein enters)
Dandelion
Oh yes, now I can see. Why, hello, I haven’t
met you before. You’re a tall flower, but you
don’t have any leaves!
Mullein
Sure I do, down at the bottom like you.
Dandelion
I see now. But your leaves are fuzzy! - covered
with hairs or fur. Is that to keep warm?
Mullein
No, no, not warm. But they keep me from
getting burned by the sun – and from being
eaten. Insects and other animals commonly do
not like fuzzy leaves.
Dandelion
Then that’s an uncommonly good defense!
Mullein
Well naturally. I’m the Common Mullein after
all! So long! (exits, grass reappears)
Dandelion
I’ll have to mull that one over. Let’s see now,
I see lots of grass leaves and some flowers and
some [pine enter]ouch! Hey, you’re prickly!
Pine Needles
Sorry - we didn’t mean to needle you. We just
can’t help it. We’re Pine Needles!
Dandelion
Well, I’m just looking for leaves today.
Pine Needles
We are leaves - the leaves of the pine tree.
Dandelion
Really? But you’re so skinny and hard.
Pine Needles
We have a hard waxy coat to keep from drying
out. But, we do the same thing your leaves do –
use sunlight, air and water to make food for the
tree. Only we do it all winter long.
Dandelion
Don’t you just turn blue in winter? It’s so cold!
Pine Needles
No, silly! If we did we’d be called “everblues”
instead of evergreens! [exits].
Four Winds Nature Institute – 8/06
Dandelion
That’s one pine example. Oh oh. Here’s a large
leaf coming in for a landing! [maple leaf
appears]. Hullo! Where did you fall from?
Maple
I just blew off that tree over there. We maple
leaves are designed to fall off when it begins to
freeze. Otherwise we’d just dry out and so
would the tree.
Dandelion
You’re shaped kind of like a hand with a palm
and five fingers.
Maple
Yes, it’s very handy.
Dandelion
Your veins go into each finger, but they all start
from one point, here, in the palm.
Maple
That’s why they’re called “palmate.”
Dandelion
We’ve seen all kinds of leaves today, but you
have the nicest color.
Maple
Aw gee – thanks. We turn colors in the fall when
we stop making food and our chlorophyll –
that’s the green stuff – goes away. Ah, here
comes the wind again. I’m off for a ride. Bye!
[exits, Foxtail enters]
Foxtail
You know what Dandelion? We’ve met a lot of
leaves today–fuzzy, needle-like, shaped like a
hand…
Dandelion
I’ll say, and I’ll bet there are a lot more to see…
Foxtail Grass
And every kind has a special design. We leaves
sure make this a beautiful and interesting place.
Dandelion
We sure do. Just LEAF it to us!
THE END

Poem/song I wrote

I feel that I am hiding the true me inside of me. McMaster, b. 1904

Whenever I hear the song of a bird
Or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face
Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by a lilac tree,
I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heavenly Father created for me.

He gave me my eyes that I might see
The color of butterfly wings.
He gave me my ears that I might hear
The magical sound of things.
He gave me my life, my mind, my heart:
I thank him reverently
For all his creations, of which I'm a part.
Yes, I know Heavenly Father loves me.
It is a really good song. This past stake conference it was a area one and I sang along with others this song. It was neat because the version we sang had three verses. The one was about the Savior and his atonement. It is a very powerful thing the atonement. I sure do love Heavenly Father and his son, our brother, Jesus Christ. Have a wonderful day everyone.

combination of things

Twins
So recently or maybe not so recently I have noticed how people look like other people I know. I think it is one friend when it isn't the friend that I thought it was. It can make for funny moments in life. I find lots of people that are look a likes but are not twins.

Atonement
So I have been thinking about the atonement recently and I am grateful for it. I am grateful that we have a loving brother that made it possible to return to our Heavenly Father no matter what we have done. He can help us to overcome our trials through the atonement and I am eveer so grateful for the love of a Heavenly Father. At times I think that I can't do overcome something but through Christ these things are possible.

Time for rejuvination
It has been nice to have a break from school. It brings back energy from doing school work in a semester. It was great to see family and friends and have lots of fun. I am grateful that there was a time for the break from school, but I am ready to get back to school.
Have a good day my friends.
Ruth

music

I like the music in the wizard of Oz.
Cowardly Lion: I'd be brave as a blizzard...
Tin Woodsman: I'd be gentle as a lizard...
Scarecrow: I'd be clever as a gizzard...
Dorothy: If the Wizard is a wizard who will serve.
Scarecrow: Then I'm sure to get a brain...
Tin Woodsman: A heart...
Dorothy: A home...
Cowardly Lion: The nerve!

I love old movies and plays. The first picture is of the helmet that I wore when I cleaned the chicken coop at work. It is a hard helmet with ear sound protectors, and a mask in the front. Sandy's husband uses it for weed-eing. The second picture is when it rained really hard and a lot when I was at work. I didn't put the hood on the rain coat and I decided to do this to keep the rain off my hair even though it was already wet at the time. Sandy's husband got a new feeder to feed the sheep, lamb, and llama their hay. It makes it a lot easier. Basically I just get the hay cut off the bailing twine and then I put the hay into the feeder and they have food. Have a good day. :)

People cannot make us feel mad unless we let them.
In other words, we are in control of how we think. I am glad that I got the chance to work for Virginia. She taught me some good things about life. She taught me to have patience, to learn how to grow a love for someone. I am glad to live in the United States. I listen to country most of the time now and when I do when I am going to work they play the national anthem every day at noon. We have so many blessings because we live in the USA. I have also been gaining a appreciation for the ability to do all that I can. Sandy has taught me to appreciate being able to use both hands. I had a dream and could use only one hand and it made me appreciate Sandy even more. I find that laughing helps me to be grateful. Humor helps us to remember to be thankful for what we have. Friends are another thing I am grateful for. They teach me things even if they don't know it. I am grateful for beautiful days. Have a wonderful day my friends. :)

Summer 2009

This summer has been a great one. I have had a lot of fun and have learned a lot of new things.
In June my niece Kalli turned 3 years old. I helped my sister Reva with her birthday party. We had lots of fun with water and other party games.
I went to a couple of my friends wedding receptions. It was great to be able to travel and have the time to think!
I cut my hair on July 9th. It has been nice to have shorter hair. It makes things easier and harder at the same time.
In May I started a new job. Virginia the lady I was working for passed away. It was sad she died, but she is in a better place. Sandy my new boss is a lot of fun. I don't think there has been a day where I haven't laughed at something that happened at work. She has some very cute animals. Apollo the Llama and Stomper one of the sheep are my favorites. The animals teach me many lessons that I can apply to my life.
My car was expensive for me this summer. First I had a motor that sounded like it was going to die, then I had brake issues, and then I have had tire problems. It is crazy.
In July I had a family reunion in Idaho. We went swimming, played games, talked, and ate food. I enjoyed the time I spent with my family.
One very eventful thing that happened at my apartment was that the sewer backed up in our downstairs bathroom. It was gross and stinky.
My summer was a very good one filled with adventure and excitement.

Picking,stemming,pitting

For about the last three weeks at work I have been helping my boss Sandy with cherries. It has been a lot of work, but fun. I learned how to make fruit rolls too. We use a food processor to mix up the cherries into a liquid like substance. Then we put it onto a cookie sheet that has glad wrap(or mad wrap as Sandy calls it). The sheep, llama, and hens are loving the goodies they get. They get the cherries that they birds get to. It is fun feeding the animals at work. That is all for today folks.

My adventurous job

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/SkLIclNjJEI/AAAAAAAAAGs/vvcWgzolcnc/s320/0613091535a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351059700620403778" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/SkLIcYBzS2I/AAAAAAAAAGk/_3h_JOeBXqM/s320/0613091535b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351059697081469794" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/SkLIcUgPgQI/AAAAAAAAAGc/rKvyCnGH9qg/s320/0603091658.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351059696135405826" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/SkLIcGAR7WI/AAAAAAAAAGU/XqbuUZ-KKkc/s320/0617091233a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351059692243250530" />
Two Saturday's ago at my job I did some weeding and while I was weeding I had a grand adventure crawling underneath the branches of a bush to get to the weeds. I felt like I was in a cave but I was not. I also get to feed cute animals. When they were in the area where the hay is for a while the sheep would try to get into the chicken coop because I was giving the chickens grain or taking care of them. It was also funny because I put the fork on a package of butter to set it aside until we were done. Well after we were done and cleaning up the taffy had cooled like in the picture. It is crazy all the things that I keep and hold onto. I just thought to myself as I was doing some of the sorting, "why have I kept this?" I filled up part of a box with paper that can be recycled it was crazy. I am glad that all that paper is not going to waste. It hasn't hit me as hard about conserving things as it has this semester with how the economy is and from being in a really awesome Natural Resource and Society class. I enjoyed this class a lot. We learned about the environment but also about relationships in general. It was great!!! Well to do other things I go hy ho hy ho hy ho.

Attitude

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/SeeZnU-3_ZI/AAAAAAAAAF0/iue--CmZXUg/s320/happy.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325393985315274130" />

So I have a question for everyone. What are your thoughts on how attitude affects how we live in our daily lives? What do you think when you hear a performance and its good but the person doesn't seem like they want to play or be there? What is the affect of people seeming like they don't want to be somewhere? I have to write a story for a class and I need to know what others think? If this doesn't make sense ask me to clarify what is not making sense. Tire rotation is where they move tires to different tire axles on the vehicle. It is funny that I thought that is not what was done. I also learned how I can change the air filter on my car. It was cool. Hope everyone is well. Have a good day.
:) :)

Remembering things of the past

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 165px; height: 209px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AcZILf5sOO8/Sc0ms7zeQsI/AAAAAAAAAFk/IaCzSJrMbNk/s320/kingfriday.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317949288404107970" />
So while working a school project I was reminded of old tv shows that I used to watch. One that hit me in particular was Mr. Rogers. I loved that show because of the new things that I could learn and the imaginary neighborhood. It is good to take time to play in our lives. Sometimes it is just what we need to get us through a tough day.
Have a awesome pawsome day!!!!!!!!!!

http://pbskids.org/rogers/make_believe/king_char.htm

So to answer Sharla's question about the National Geographic thing.
You go to the customize on the top right and then you go to the layout bar and add a gadget and then click on the feature and there will be the National Geographic thing which will be a add sign to the right. Then you will click the save button and it should go onto your blog where you want it. I am in the symphonic band this semester and I really enjoy it. We have a concert this Friday. It should be a pretty good time. There are few of the pieces that are tougher than the others but I will give it my best shot. I will do the best I can to do my part well.
We are playing Imperatrix, Cahjun folk songs, hebrides suite, when the stars begin to fall, and another piece that is looney tune type of stuff.
Another thing that has been fun is that I am learning my scales better. I used to not know very many scales and now I know at least six of them. It is also fun learning about the transposing process.
Have a wonderful awesome day.
:)

times around the globe continued

7:14 is California
8:14 is Arizona
8:14 my time
10:15 Florida
1:16 in Florianopolis Brazil

Times around the globe

So lately I have been thinking about what time it is around the world. At first I went out and tried out the ski’s trying to figure them out. I did this for a while getting some help from others in my ward. I fell once doing this and I got upset, but I kept going. I then tried to do pizza wedge again and did a little better. The pizza wedge is something that helps you stop when you are skiing. It is making the skis look like a pizza without crossing them. I started talking with some people in my ward and they invited me to go on the lift. It was a fun and scary experience learning to ski. I fell down lots and lots. You get better at something by trying again and again. This is what I did. I was a little sore, but it was so worth it.

Fun skit i found

Here is the first part of a skit that is with trees and such that I thought was cute.
The two people in the picture are Shanna Lebau and Chris Mele. We played flour bomb capture the flag. We used nylons with flour in them to get people out instead of tagging people. It was a lot of fun. We sure got floury. The last picture is the lake Mack Warner. My dad and I went fishing on the 5 of July. We had a blast. We caught one fish. As I caught my fish we had to start rowing once I got it in. It was a windy day so we had the battery powered motor on full blast. We had to row because of this. We ended up having to go along side the lake to get to the boat dock. I pulled the boat from the edge and my dad was in the boat directing it. It was crazy. We rowed a little too. It was a great adventure with my dad. Have a great week.
Ruthio

I wonder....

My friend Jessio did a blog about her sister recently, Sharadon and made a comment as to wondering what it would have been like to have been able to grow up with her. As I was thinking of this it made me think of my mom. I wonder what would it have been like to have had her there when I went to Junior prom, when I went on my first date, and other things like that. Would we have had our quarrels or got a long pretty good. I realize that my mom did have a purpose even if I have times where I wished she could have been there for me. I realized that she was there to help me to learn what service is. It is loving those that we care about. Doing anything that might make them happy. Telling them what we have enjoyed in life and many other things. I am grateful for a loving mother that was willing to sacrifice for me so that I could learn from her in a different way than most. I love my mom still even though I can't tell her I love her anymore on this earth.

Life

So life has been very interesting lately. My job has had its ups and downs. I am learning from the downs of my job though. I am learning that we all have different ways that we want things done. I am learning also to learn from those who have had more experience in things like gardening than I have had in my life. It definitely takes time and patience.
I am working on how to communicate better or ways that I can. It is a neat and difficult experience. I am also wanting to understand why people are the way that they are.
I went home this last week and it was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my nieces and nephews, sisters, brother in laws, and my parents. It is definitely noisy when I am around when all of those that live in Vernal of my family are in the same house. It is something that I am getting used too.
I have been having fun taking pictures of nature. I just love observing and finding things to take pictures of. I was at Wal-mart the other day and I saw what looked like a humming bird, but I wasn't sure if it was a humming bird or if it was a moth. It was really awesome!!!
Well until next time.
Ruthio

Rock Climbing

On to more adventures

I moved into my new apartment this past Wednesday. It has been a lot of fun organizing everything of mine and talking with Jeannio as to where to put shared stuff. It is fun there are several people from my ward during the school year that live in Anderson apartments also.
As some people have read I have a boyfriend named Nathan Johns. He is a history major, he likes to dance, cook, and many other things. One thing that he likes to cook is Indian food. He made some really good sweet and sour carrots last week. He constantly loves to tease me and I do my best to tease him back. I have to realize he is teasing a lot. I am getting used to it. We have lots of fun together. We are often laughing a lot.
School went pretty good this last semester. I have to figure out more with how to best be able to teach about plants and animals. I really enjoy nature and it would such a joy to be able to teach others. I am so excited for next school year because one of my classes that I am taking is symphonic band. I so enjoy playing in a group and combining sound to make beautiful music. Well hope everyone is well. Have a wonderful day.

Spring!!!!!! One thing is that I dissected a squid. I also held a millepede. A hard thing to do, but fun also. Another thing that I have held is a hissing cockroach. I wasn't wanting to hold these things, but I decided to get over my fears and hold them anyways. Did you know that it is only really centipedes that are dangerous not the millepedes. Some millepedes do let a cynide gas out, but there are some that are dangerous like the one I held. Centipedes have pinchers(fanglike) that are by their legs and poison comes out of this. They are on their sides. Learning and trying new things is fun.

Blessings

Lately I have realized how many blessings I have. I have family, friends, food to eat, and many more things, when others don't have as much as I do. I am learning more and more about the way our bodies work in my biology class. It is amazing that our heart which is the size of two fists makes it so that we are alive along with the other systems in our bodies. We need so much physically and also spiritually. I am grateful for the blessing that our loving heavenly father gives us. While reading in the ensign for this month I was reminded of the many blessings we are given from Christ. He died and was ressurected just for us. He paid the price so that we can repent, forgive, have eternal life, and so many other things. I am realizing more and more lately that the lord can do this for us. We must ask in faith and do our part and he will help us.
I may not know exactly what the future will hold for me right now, but the lord will guide me as I go to him. Have a good week.
Ruthio

Here are some pictures from a date that was on the 23rd of this month. I had on some black gloves and I enjoyed watching the snowflakes fall onto my glove so I could observe them. I just love to learn about nature.

USU adventures

The last few weeks have been fun and interesting.
